Vaccinium 'Blue ribbon'

High yields of large, firm, tasty fruits. This fruit shrub is also prized for the shelf life of the fruits after harvest. Ornamental for its fruiting, its flowers and its splendid color of foliage in the fall. The stems remain red. Two varieties are required to obtain a fruit harvest.

Fruits:large, firm, but especially tasty when eaten fresh. Harvest from early to mid-season.
Pruning: Prune old branches (2 per year).
Maintenance: Acid, clay soil (25%) and peat moss (75%), well drained. Mulch on the ground to maintain humidity, protect and limit weeds. To improve fruit production, compost or an acidifying fertilizer can be applied every year. Be careful of birds, installing a net is strongly recommended.
